Einkorn Flour Waffles
These einkorn flour waffles are a delight! This waffle batter is very simple to make. Waffles are very easy and quick to make from scratch, so there’s absolutely no reason to make it from a box! These waffles are very filling, and we only need one or two to feel like we’re full. I personally use a waffle maker that makes waffles in the shape of Texas. It’s obnoxious, but I think the shape makes it taste better. 😊
These waffles make a cheap, filling meal. These waffles are best served with jam, syrup, powdered sugar, or honey.
Einkorn
Einkorn is my favorite flour to bake with. The texture of einkorn is fantastic. It’s not a heavy grain, and can be used for practically any recipe in replace of modern wheat.
Einkorn is known as a type of ancient grain that is easier for people with wheat sensitivities to digest. It contains only 14 chromosomes, which is significantly less than modern wheat. Einkorn flour waffles also have a fantastic texture! This ancient grain is also great for making pancakes!
There are members of my family with wheat sensitivities who tend to react better to ancient grains such as einkorn, spelt, and rye. However, you should take caution and speak to a medical professional first if this applies to you.
If you use einkorn frequently, the best way to save money is to buy einkorn in bulk. A fifty pound bag of einkorn berries will cost about $2.00 a lb, while a 2lb bag of einkorn flour will cost about $10.00 a pound! Buying berries can also help you save money due to the fact that berries keep longer than flour. Plus, you can freshly mill your flour whenever you’re ready to use it for your favorite recipes! 😋
