Camembert Ham Pizza Recipe
Introduction
This Camembert ham pizza is a delicious choice to make for dinner. I bought a bunch of Camembert since it was on sale, and now I’m finding fun and creative ways to use it! Camembert ham pizza was a crowd pleaser, even among pickier eaters in the family.
Be aware that I used a pre-made 9 inch sourdough pizza crust. If you don’t have one, you can try to use one of my pizza crust recipes found here, just be sure to double the dough.
Camembert
This recipe will require a 8 oz rind of Camembert. Soft cheeses, such as Camembert and Brie, can be a bit of a headache if you don’t know what you’re doing. Unfortunately, if you choose to open the rind immediately, the cheese will stick to the rind much like glue. Camembert can be difficult to separate from the rind this way. For removing the rind from the Camembert, check out this WikiHow article. The instructions here are for Brie cheese, but it is exactly the same for Camembert. Using Camembert, with the right technique, is easy. Just place cheese in freezer 30 minutes prior to using, then cut off the rind using a knife.
Camembert is a kind of soft cheese that is like Brie’s edgier cousin. The taste of Camembert is richer and earthier than Brie. The main difference between the cheeses is how it is made; Brie has extra cream added to it, Camembert does not. In the microwave, melt the Camembert for about 30 seconds, or until liquefied. Afterwards, spread cheese evenly around the pizza with a spoon.
Ham
For this recipe, I used lunch meat ham, torn into smaller pieces. It will take about 1 and a half slices of ham, depending on the size. Be sure to make each piece of ham about the size of a quarter.
